We’re excited to announce that, for the third year in a row, we’ll be doing our Thanksgiving pie giveaway. Given the circumstances, we’ve tweaked this year's event in an effort to prioritize everyone’s safety. We’ll be doing a “drive-by for pie,” meaning that you’ll be able to just give us a call and we’ll run the pie out to your car. You can swing by to pick up your pies on Tuesday, November 24, and Wednesday, November 25—just in time for your Thanksgiving dinner.

To reserve your pie, give us a call at 907-452-3000, or send an email to info@maddenrealestate.com. We want to thank our event sponsors: First Rate Financial, who has your lending needs covered; Jim Kelly with State Farm, who offers homeowners insurance that you can trust; and Fidelity Title Agency of Alaska, who is there to ensure your home-buying process is smooth and easy with title background. In addition to our amazing clients, we’ll be giving away 75 pies to first responders and nonprofits as a way to say thank you. From our Madden family to yours: Happy Thanksgiving, and let’s drive by for pie!

4 Surprisingly Smart Reasons to Buy During the Holidays

Do you know the four main reasons it’s a great idea to buy in winter?

Who wants to trudge through inclement weather to view homes? Moreover, who has time to look with all the holiday festivities going on? It may not seem like the most intuitive thing to do, but there are several clear reasons why buying during the holidays is a solid move.

1. Less competition. Most buyers take the month of December off to celebrate the holidays by attending parties and hosting out-of-town guests. Perhaps some have even heard that this time of year is a bad time to buy a home. Whatever the reason, shopping at a time when there are fewer buyers can pay off big time. Competing with multiple offers is one of the most stressful parts of the home buying process—avoid the headaches and pursue homes now.

Sellers are generally more flexible during this time.

2. Motivated sellers. Okay, let’s be honest and call them what they really are: desperate sellers. The December seller is more serious and therefore more open to negotiation. They may be selling because of job relocation or a family crisis. So even though you may be facing fewer options on the market, it’s balanced out by the fact that sellers are generally more flexible during this time.

3. A more realistic picture. Every house in spring looks delightful; flowers are blooming around it, the sun is shining down on it, and a cool breeze blows through the yard. However, seeing a house in a dreary winter background can give you a clearer idea of what you’ll be living with year-round, not just in the picturesque seasons. You can also check for issues that you’d only notice during the winter.

4. Greater accessibility to professionals. Since December is generally a slower month all around, you’ll have greater access to real estate agents, lenders, movers, and fixers. With fewer client demands, agents will be more willing to bend over backward to satisfy your needs. This means you’ll be equipped to close quicker, and for top dollar

If you’re looking to purchase a new home this December and have questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We’d love to take your call or respond to your email and help you in any way we can.
