4 Reasons People Decide to Downsize

Downsizing is a popular option for many home sellers. Here are a few reasons why.

The normal path for a homeowner is to continually upsize as life goes on. You go from a starter home to a family home. However, there are some cases when it might be time for you to downsize. Here are four signs that it may be time for you to downsize from your current home into something a little smaller:

1. Retirement. When you’re having a change in life, you’re having a change of pace and a change of time. You might want to spend that time differently now by traveling and it just makes sense to make a change. This is also a good way to combat financial changes.

2. Anxiety. As people age, the general upkeep of a home becomes more and more difficult of a task to complete. If a spouse passes away, the remaining spouse will be responsible for everything.

Downsizing can create additional financial opportunities for you.

3. Unused space. We find that many rooms end up collecting more dust than they are being occupied. If you have more space than you need, it might be time to move into a more manageable space.

4. Money opportunities. When you’ve lived in a home for years, you’ve probably built up a ton of equity, especially in the last decade. This has created an opportunity for you to buy something that costs less and use that equity to invest in other things that can produce different opportunities for you.

If you have any questions for me about downsizing or anything else related to real estate, don’t hesitate to give me a call or send me an email. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

We just wanted to take a quick moment to let you know about the upcoming Back-to-School Supply Drive that we’re hosting along with KTVF to benefit the children, families, and teachers in our community.

We’ve partnered with businesses in Fairbanks such as Barnes and Noble, the United Way, and Walmart, and we’d love for you to help us by dropping off any school supplies to either our Fairbanks (728 Gaffney Road, Suite 100) or North Pole 71 Saint Nicholas Drive) locations.

The list of supplies that are needed is right here on Facebook and includes things like crayons, tissues, headphones, and everything in between. The drive will be going on from July 29 to August 16 and we’d love for you to join us in making a difference.
